Cromos M.C.'s anniversary party

A while ago a friend invited me to get on the road towards Cromos M.C.’s anniversary party, that took place in São José dos Campos, São Paulo. He made so many compliments on the previous parties and was so excited that was just impossible to say no. And, to be real, I was just looking for an excuse (like I needed one) to get on the road again.

On the eve of the trip everything indicated that it would be a wreck. The weather forecast had predicted a rainy and cold weekend and since a strong wind was blowing in Rio that previous night, there wasn’t a doubt at that time that the trip would be under a heavy rain.

And it couldn’t have been any different. Saturday dawn, about 5 am, there was a little rain and a lotta coldness. I almost drop out, but fuck, what the hell… So I put on 3 pants, 5 shirts/sweatshirts and went straight to meeting spot. When I got there, there were already a few people waiting for the bar to open to get some breakfast. While we chatted, the rest of the group got there. When everyone arrived, we got on the road…

The trip ended up being awesome and, contradicting all the foresights, no water drop fell from the sky while we're on the highway. That was one helluva of a pack on the road. Full patch members of traditional brazilian M.C.’s, along with friends and old school mechanics in 15 scoots – 13 Harley Davidsons, including Shovels, Evo, Twin Cam and even a S&S engine. Most of the time I rode behind a Shovel, which had a fishing rod fastened to the handlebar and carried a bottom-burned frying pan strapped to the sissy bar. As Mastercard would say, that is priceless…

As soon as we got to São José dos Campos, we headed to Cromos M.C.’s clubhouse where we were very well received. Located near an important avenue, the clubhouse is a huge two-storey hangar and feeds anyone’s imagination about the crazy parties that might go on there. From there, they leaded us to the place where the event was taking place, some sort of small farm with such a great visual, as you can see in the pics.

As the night approached, the bikers were arriving and so was the cold. The party was crowded, but not too much, just enough to make it good. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the cold. It was fucking freezing. The bands provided rock n' roll all night long. The BBQ and some other “add-ons” helped us not to freeze and the chatting went on throughout the night…

The next day we took the road back to Rio and I gotta say it was a true cold shower. Literally… Heavy rain all the way back…

To the Cromos M.C. my congratulations on the party and count me in next time.

7º Classic Motorcycle Meeting - Pateo do Collegio, São Paulo

The Moto e Cia Classic Show is the largest classic bike show in Brazil.

The meeting takes place annually and serves to rescue the history of motorcycles in Brazil and abroad, meet fans, promote the kulture, as well as visit the historic center of São Paulo.

Pateo do Collegio is the name given to the historical Jesuit church and school in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The name is also used to refer to the square in front of the church. The Pateo do Collegio marks the site were the city was founded in 1554.

Only bikes produced until 1979 can be exhibited in the show. There were many beautiful and well preserved classic bikes. And outside the show, as you can see in the video below, the parking lot was crowded with tons of customized bikes of all kinds.

Garage Metallica and Chrys Miranda

For those not familiar, this is Chrys Miranda, owner of Garage Metallica and the guy behind the Swap Meet we (my friend Andy and I) talked about in the posts below.

Located in Vila Madalena, São Paulo, Garage Metallica is a workshop specialized in Harley Davidson motorcycles, whether you are searching for customizing it, giving it a performance upgrade, or building it from ground up.

Chrys Miranda brought his know-how from years living in the U.S., where he gained experience through courses in the Harley-Davidson factory, and through his work in two California dealers, Golden Gate Harley-Davidson and Harley-Davidson Mc'Guire.

Building unique motorcycles, all based on the customer`s idea, Chrys offers a special touch by encouraging cycling/handling and functionality of the bike. When it comes to aesthetics, the final product brings us back to the 50, 60 and 70`s, an innovative period in terms of art, fashion and design, however, the bikes have the attitude and performance suitable for the twenty-first century.

Here are some of the bikes that carry his signature.

If you would like to know more about his work, please visit his SITE or his BLOG. In case you´re wondering how to get there, there´s a map available at the site Oficinas e Serviços (Workshops and Services).

As you already know, last weekend the 6th edition of his Swap Meet took place in his workshop, and we, from Lord of Motors, were there to check it out.

Once again I have to say that when it comes to Swap Meets, as well as HD Drag Racing, we are years behind you guys in the U.S. We just don´t have any, except for this one, once a year. Well, to be honest there´s going to be another one in July 3rd, this time not at Garage Metallica, and that´s all.

Despite that, we can say the Swap was a success. As you can see in the picture below, the atmosphere of the event could not have been better. Everyone talking to everyone, exchanging ideas, telling stories and, as might be expected, doing business.

And as for me, I ended up swaping a 18 inches ape hanger with clutch cable for two almost new HD Dunlop tires. Other than that, still sold a riser clamp, a jockey shift with suicide clutch kit for sportster, and some blog tees.
